“Please hold the line.” Words known to millions – from endless telephone hold queues to moments of standstill and impatience. Pavel Cuzuioc accompanies cable technicians on their rounds in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Ukraine. They lay cables, repair internet connections, and get people back “online” – yet their real work often begins only once they step through the customer's front door. Amidst tangled cables, old televisions, and blinking routers, intimate glimpses into vastly different worlds emerge. With an observant eye and dry humour, Cuzuioc transforms seemingly mundane encounters into small portraits filled with humanity. PLEASE HOLD THE LINE tells the story of a world more interconnected than ever before – yet one where the desire for genuine connection remains undiminished. Set between modern technology and post- socialist reality, this poetic documentary explores communication, misunderstandings, and the many forms of human connection, revealing that sometimes the most important link doesn't start with a cable but with a conversation.
