From Azad Altay, Dijle Arjîn

Year 2025

Duration 80 min.

Language Turkish

BÎRA SÛRÊ (The Memory of Sur)
Azad Altay | 36 min | Kurdish/Turkish with English subtitles

In the historic district of Sur in Amed, the collective memory of a people was deliberately targeted following the curfews imposed in 2015 and 2016. This documentary is a journey through memory, spanning from the attacks on historic streets to the emergence of "new" residential neighborhoods enclosed by concrete walls.

HEMO
Dijle Arjîn | 45 min | Kurdish with English subtitles

Hemo is a farmer who struggles hard to make a living from his land. He spends his days in the fields and tending to his animals, in a landscape that still bears the scars of war. But one day, an unexpected offer turns his life upside down: he is asked to act in a film. The role Hemo takes on is far more than just an acting experience; the character he is to portray is an enemy he encountered years earlier during the 2015 resistance in Kobanê. Torn between the tangible reality of village life—the land, the grueling labor, and the struggle for survival—and the demands of a film set, Hemo finds himself caught between two entirely different worlds.

This story goes beyond a man taking on a role; it depicts an inner journey that delves into the depths of memory, identity, and confrontation.
