Besuch im Bubenland

Katrin Schlösser ("Szenen meiner Ehe") aims to explore Austrian men in her new film VISIT TO BOYLAND in the Südburgenland region – an empathetic and humorous film about a largely unknown species.

In her second documentary, filmmaker Katrin Schlösser heads to Südburgenland to make a film with men. She seeks to understand how they think and act, what drives them, and also how she herself approaches men, what expectations she attributes to them.

In the form of cinematic field research, she gathers encounters and conversations, learning about individual life paths, daily routines and their burdens, dreams. Initially terse and laconic, the men eventually openly share their thoughts and feelings – always in response to the curiosity, openness, and persistence of the questioner, who sits across from them with her phone camera, seeking a dialogue on equal terms.
