Bergdenken
How can we tell stories about the mountains in ways that break with convention? With BERGDENKEN, filmmaker Wolfgang Tonninger from Abtenau seeks to find his own answer: “It is an attempt to trace the sudden and unpredictable things that await us in the elemental world. A cinematic counterpoint to a world devoted to making everything available at all times. A search in which the mountains are not exploited as a mere backdrop, but understood as an interlocutor and a space for resonance.”
We encounter people who live in and alongside the mountains, who grapple with them and reflect on their relationship with them. Situations, conversations and memories come together to form a larger picture, and a meditation on the “mountainous chambers” of the Austrian soul.
