Instead of going on holiday together, Mila and her little sister are once again left behind by their mother. In her search for a sense of belonging and a distraction, Mila stumbles upon a swimming team, and to her surprise, the charismatic coach Vlad and the others welcome her into their group. But then something happens that sets off even more unexpected twists and turns – and Mila, left entirely to her own devices, must decide how far she is willing to go to achieve her goals. A coming-of-age story told through stylised imagery against the complex social backdrop of Kazakhstan.
