Auf trockenen Gräsern

Samet, a young art teacher from Istanbul, has been doing his compulsory service in a remote village in Anatolia for four years. He does his work conscientiously but, despite having an affair with his colleague, is just waiting to leave the desolation of rural life as soon as possible. But when two schoolgirls accuse him of behaving inappropriately, his hopes begin to fade - and Samet gets to know sides of himself that reveal a completely different person.

Once again, Nuri Bilge Ceylan delivers visually stunning cinema with ON DRY GRASSES, provocative and full of penetrating ideas that once again cement his mastery as an auteur filmmaker. The film had its world premiere in competition at Cannes 2023, where Merve Dizdar was also awarded Best Actress.
