Auf der Suche nach dem verlorenen Februar | Tränen statt Gewehre
Committed historians use the easy-to-use video technology that became established in the early 1980s to ensure that the subject of history is not left solely to the victors. The contemporary witnesses who speak in front of the camera here were on the side of the losers in February 1934: Socialists and Schutzbündler remember their youth, unemployment, their politicisation - and the disillusionment and awareness of the gap between the party leadership and the grassroots. In the second film, Anni Haider recounts her experiences back then and her feelings and thoughts today, as if it had all just happened yesterday. The disappointment and the feeling of having been let down are present.
