The meadow is in a state of emergency: summer is hotter than ever, the grass is drying out, and suddenly the water is gone, too. While Captain Pantz and his team of ants frantically search for a solution, it is the chaotic young ants Arnie and Barney who take the rescue of their home into their own hands.

With no real plan but plenty of courage and imagination, the two follow a mysterious trail and discover that there is more to the drought than just a dry summer. Together with the legendary, though not exactly heroic, superhero mosquito SzzKeat, they uncover the scheme of a ruthless water smuggler who is hoarding the precious supplies for himself.
