Angel Heart

In the mid-1950s, washed-up private detective Harry Angel is hired to track down a missing musician. The trail leads him from rainy New York to sweltering New Orleans. The name of his client should have made Harry suspicious: Louis Cyphre … As such, Robert De Niro exudes an elegant yet intimidating presence, best observed when he is peeling an egg. Mickey Rourke plays the driven investigator, whilst Lisa Bonet and Charlotte Rampling, in their mysterious female roles, are every bit as compelling as the men: a well-seasoned genre gumbo – now rightly celebrated as a cult film of the 1980s.
