Ancestral Visions of the Future

Memories of a childhood in Lesotho: through the multifaceted language of film, Lemohang Mosese tells of a connection to nature and farm work, of finding one’s bearings in a city marked by violence, of modest dreams and everyday struggles. Much like an epic poem, a poetic voiceover guides the viewer through the film, at times contextualising the fascinating, often enigmatic images and at others subverting them. Key companions on this journey: a puppeteer who opens people’s eyes, and a mother who raises her voice in a radical manner against evil.
