Amazomania
In 1996, Swedish journalist Erling Söderström took part in an expedition to the Amazon rainforest to make contact with the isolated Korubo people. He documented the journey and the first encounter in detail, turning his footage into highly acclaimed films. Some thirty years later, director Grossman takes a critical look at footage from Söderström’s archive – and travels with him once again to visit the Korubo. This conflict-laden encounter creates a radical shift in perspective, exposing colonial narratives and revealing the impact of contact on the Korubo.
