A Place Where I Belong

“A Place Where I Belong” follows six 2SLGBTQIA+ people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities as they grapple with their identity, love and societal barriers. The focus is on the innovative non-profit programme “Connecting Queer Communities” (CQC).

Whilst the participants find safety and solidarity within CQC, their stories – ranging from self-advocacy and family rejection to the joy of coming out – highlight the urgent need for inclusive spaces. But with CQC facing closure, the film poses a central question: what happens to a community when the only safe space it has ever had is threatened with disappearance?
