Despite knowing that there can be no shared future, as personal circumstances make it impossible, they embark on a passionate affair that at times jeopardizes the work on set. The “film-within-a-film” aspect and the amour fou make A MAN IN LOVE a worthy successor to Truffaut’s Day for Night.
