A Fox Under a Pink Moon
Soraya, an Afghan teenager, is a sculptor and artist living in Iran. Together with the director, she tells her own story, filmed using her smartphone. Soraya wants to reach Europe to join her mother, who lives in Austria. She documents her real-life attempts to flee during the first stage of her journey into and through Turkey. On foot, in overcrowded minibuses, by boat: time and again, her plans come to nothing. In between, in her daily life with a violent husband, Soraya processes the events of her life through fantastical art – which is also shown as animation in the film.
