EIN HIRTE by Louis Hanquet is a highly dramatic opera. The protagonist Félix, a young, melancholy shepherd, leads a life outside of time. In summer, he leads his father's flock to the mountain pastures. There he lives for months in an inaccessible world where an invisible creature roams: the wolf. Félix has gone against the grain of his time and chosen a profession that isolates him and keeps him away from the world. Nevertheless, he accepts the company of a curious filmmaker who tries to understand what his loneliness is all about: ‘A melancholy, poetic ode that reflects on the expression Homo homini lupus, only to conclude that a man can also become a lamb that takes away the sins of this world.’

As a supporting film, we are showing DAS VERWANDTE BIEST about the Marchand hunting family in the French Alps. From father to son, but above all from father to daughter - hunting is a heritage that is passed on in the family with great care and rigour. Both films are being shown in Austria for the first time.
