Classics of Austrian Cinema
The special programme Classics of Austrian Cinema presents a representative cross-section of Austria’s cinematic heritage, celebrating the diversity, distinctive character and artistic power of Austrian filmmaking.
As a tribute to the country’s great directors, we present outstanding works from different decades: films that have shaped Austrian cinema, moved audiences and brought it international recognition. The series invites audiences to rediscover familiar favourites and experience cinematic milestones on the big screen in a special atmosphere.
Each screening is followed by a discussion with producer Dieter Pochlatko and cultural journalist Christian Pogatetz. An additional guest, such as the film’s director, an actor or its producer, is also planned for each event.
