Ken, the son of a policeman, has always wanted to follow in his father's professional footsteps, but shortly before the end of his training he stumbles as his sexual preferences threaten to come to light. His ex-boyfriend, a nightclub owner who makes a small fortune with illegal arms deals, drives him into a corner until Ken sees no other way out than to take up arms himself ... Not averse to breaking taboos, Patzak's idiosyncratic and anarchic ‘Viennoir’, influenced by American gangster films and French thrillers, lays an important foundation stone in his directorial career and is certainly considered a preliminary study for the success yet to come.
