Wohin und zurück – Teil 2: Santa Fé

1942: A ship arrives in New York harbor. Ferry Tobler dies trying to rescue a Jewish woman who has jumped into the water out of desperation because she has no visa. Another passenger from Vienna, Freddy Wolff, takes care of the woman and at the same time tries to find his feet in his new surroundings. He falls in love with his boss's daughter - but memories, fears, illusions and homesickness cannot be shaken off. When America enters the war against Germany, he enlists to serve in his homeland - to show his gratitude to the country that took him in when he was most in need, and to return to Europe.
