Wo sein Wäsche I Verlass mich nicht
First and (so far) last work: WO SEIN WÄSCHE, a legendary contribution to the ORF series GESCHICHTEN AUS ÖSTERREICH, shows the Kafkaesque odyssey of a couple of guest workers to obtain a state laundry package for their newborn - including the official mould and hatred of foreigners. The fact that the ‘foreigners’ do not allow themselves to be forced into the role of victims and instead defend themselves against injustice must have been of little amusement to the average Austrian when it was first broadcast 50 years ago - and even less to recognise themselves on television in this way. From the past to the present: in the improvisation piece VERLASS MICH NICHT (DON'T LEAVE ME), Berner works with students from Graz University of the Arts to create short, pointed stories about leaving each other.
