Marie-Line (Louane Emera), a young waitress, is just scraping by. After a heated argument with her boyfriend, she not only loses her job, but is also sentenced to pay a hefty fine. However, the judge in charge of the case, Gilles (Michel Blanc) – who is about to retire, disillusioned and living in his own world – sees Marie-Line as more than just a file. To help her out of her financial predicament, he spontaneously offers her a job: since he has just had to hand in his driver's license, Marie-Line is to be his driver for a month. An unusual friendship develops between the impulsive and vivacious Marie-Line and the distant and melancholic judge, showing both of them a way out of their personal crises: while Marie-Line learns to cope better with the ups and downs of life, Gilles begins to feel joy again and open up to his surroundings.
