White Christmas
Bob Wallace and Phil Davis are two friends who share war experiences. In 1944 they fight in Europe, where their camp is attacked shortly after the Christmas party and Phil saves his friend's life. When the war is over, Bob and Phil earn their living on Broadway. Sergeant Hayne asks them to listen to songs by his sisters Betty and Judy and give their opinions. The four of them travel to Vermont for a performance by the sisters. Major General Tom Waverly runs the hotel there, which is not doing well financially. So Bob and Phil decide to stage a revue to help their former superior. Meanwhile, Bob and Betty discover their affection for each other...
WHITE CHRISTMAS is a treasure trove of classic songs by Irving Berlin such as ‘Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep’, ‘Sisters’, ‘Blue Skies’ and probably the most popular Christmas carol ‘White Christmas’.
At the time, it was the first film to be released in VistaVision, a widescreen process developed by Paramount to provide better picture quality than conventional 35mm films.
