WENJA
“WENJA” tells the gripping story of a young woman suffering from memory loss who sets out in search of her identity while being haunted by mysterious hallucinations. As reality and visions increasingly blur, Wenja realizes that her personal past is inseparably linked to the consequences of human actions on the environment. On a deeper level, the film unfolds as an allegorical fairy tale about humanity’s relationship with climate change—caught between denial, guilt, and the possibility of a radical new beginning.
“WENJA” was produced entirely on a voluntary basis by the members of the Theater AG Hipstedt and was funded by the European Union, the Fonds Soziokultur, and the Landschaftsverband Stade.
