Wedlock
With eleven nominations at last year’s Bulgarian Film Academy Awards, including all four acting categories, Wedlock is a classic, timeless, and passionate tale of youthful love, sensually embodied by Hatte (Ralitsa Stoyanova) and Meto (Radoslav Vladimirov).
Set in the picturesque Rhodope Mountains near the Greek border at the turn of the 20th century, the film tells the story of a forbidden romance between the daughter of a wealthy landowner and a free-spirited orphan boy. Beautifully captured by veteran cinematographer Emil Christov — who was also responsible for Bulgaria’s EFF 2024 entry Phi 1.618 — this is truly a love story for the ages. (NY)
