In 1937, Helena, a pregnant aspiring doctor, and her husband Alois, an ambitious factory director, arrive in Svit in the Tatra Mountains to build a modern industrial city. Their plans are turned upside down by a disturbing discovery on the grounds of a local factory. The case is subject to the highest secrecy, and the secret service's investigation is quickly closed. Helena wants to investigate the background of the case and sets out to solve the mystery.
