What lengths will a young band go to in order to scrape together the money for their first record production? Quite a few, as we learn in the course of this light-hearted mixture of road movie, music film and picaresque tale, in which Burt Reynolds transforms the American South of the 1950s into a laid-back playground of petrol fumes and country swing. A rare and innocent greeting from a time when cinema was simply allowed to be fun.
