Very Naughty, Very British

Until now, British exploitation cinema has been a blind spot in our Wild Friday Night history. With this exquisite double bill, that's about to change. Curtain up for Stanley Long, the Russ Meyer of the island, even crowned ‘King of Sexploitation’ by the tabloid newspaper The Sun. In addition to plenty of naked skin, his films are typically British, but there is no shortage of humour, as the first two parts of the extremely successful ADVENTURES series, which was also released in this country, wonderfully demonstrate: While taxi driver Joe has to fend off countless love-thirsty ladies on his tours through Swinging London, the scatterbrained private detective Bob encounters ... well, countless love-thirsty ladies during his investigations. A frivolous time capsule back to the popular cinema of the pre-Thatcher years. (Florian Widegger)
