Verflucht normal (I swear)
John Davidson grows up in a small Scottish town in the early 1980s and begins developing pronounced nervous tics at the age of twelve. What is only diagnosed years later as Tourette syndrome comes to shape his everyday life from then on. Neither at school nor at home are his uncontrollable movements and sudden outbursts recognized as medical symptoms; instead, he is met with ridicule and punishment.
Around fifteen years later, a chance encounter with his former classmate Murray and Murray’s mother Dottie changes his situation. As a nurse, she treats him with understanding, welcomes him into her family, and helps him secure a job as assistant to the janitor Tommy at the local community center. A close friendship develops between the two men, giving John the confidence to begin forging his own path.
"I swear"(Verflucht Normal) captivates with outstanding performances, a touching story, and a surprising amount of humor.
