Pirita, the young wife of a reindeer herder, is often left alone to tend the hearth and hearth. In her solitude, she seeks out a shaman who gives her a love potion, which bestows upon her a sinister gift: From then on, she roams the night as a white reindeer, luring men to their deaths… Erik Blomberg's directorial debut—conceived and starring his wife—blends Sami myths, werewolf and vampire legends into an archaic and hypnotic folk horror film. Subversive undertones unfold amidst asceticism, prudishness, and repressed desire, while nature, longing, and exclusion merge into an eerie, chilling ballad.
