The Altiplano, the Bolivian highlands of the Andes: This is where Vigilio and Sisa from the indigenous Quechua ethnic group live. Behind them lies a long life together, shaped by the traditional way of life with llama breeding and vegetable cultivation, and in close connection with nature. But now the rains have stopped, there is no more water from the village well, and Vigilio is seriously ill, which his wife is not to know about. From the flight of the condor, he tries to interpret the signs around him. Will a march up the volcano with the ritual invocation of rain bring improvement? On his visit, the grandson urges the grandparents to move to the city, to the modern world that is not theirs, that no longer uses their language and their wisdom.
