"UNSICHTBARE GEGNER is a psychic science fiction film: Anna, a photographer and video reporter, wakes up one morning and hears a warning on the radio that invisible alien forces are about to take over the earth by assuming the form of humans and then altering their consciousness." This is how VALIE EXPORT summarises the plot. In impressive images, she also deals with very "worldly" questions that revolve around gender relations and the representation of women in art ... The "bourgeoisie" understood very well what it was all about: the Kronen Zeitung newspaper hailed her with inflammatory tirades ("perverse trash"), and Minister Sinowatz preferred not to award a state prize to the artist.
