In the spring of 1944, a perfidious propaganda film was made in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, depicting the "happy" lives of the prisoners dancing through the streets to lively music in front of the SS generals. When posters suddenly appear demanding an end to the mendacious filming and "Death to Fascism", the camp administration feels it has a duty. It prepares the transport of 6,000 Jews to Auschwitz - a transport from "paradise" to hell ... Together with his co-author Arnošt Lustig, who himself only narrowly escaped the Nazi extermination machine, Brynych created one of the most impressive films against forgetting and was awarded the Golden Leopard in Locarno: the prelude to his trilogy on the psychology of fascism.
