TOROBORO: EL NOMBRE DE LAS PLANTAS (TOROBORO: THE NAME OF THE PLANTS)
25 years ago, two botanists travelled to the Waorani living in the Ecuadorian Amazon region to scientifically record the diversity of trees there for the first time. The Waorani told them that they have a name for each of the 625 (!) species - and that they use all of them for something. In this film, the researchers return to meet some of the people who made the study possible. The bridge over the Toroboro River was the beginning of the disaster, says a Waorani man: since then, the area has been continuously and increasingly exploited by oil companies.
