Tideland
After the drug-related death of her mother, little Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland) moves in with her father Noah (Jeff Bridges) in her late grandmother's run-down farmhouse. But shortly after their arrival, Noah takes an overdose, and while his body rots in his chair, Jeliza-Rose meets the taxidermist Dell (Janet McDeer) and her unstable brother Dickens (Brendan Fletcher). Together with Dickens, Jeliza-Rose decides to fight an imaginary monster creature in the cornfields, the legendary killer shark.
Terry Gilliam's TIDELAND is unsettling and at times beautiful, but in any case unconventional. It was made alongside his major production THE BROTHERS GRIMM. Scolded by film critics and seen by only a few cinema-goers, the film was released exclusively on DVD in this country without a distributor.
