Thunder

Around the turn of the 20th century, 17-year-old Elisabeth returns to her family in a Valais valley after five years in the convent, following the sudden death of her sister Innocente. Elisabeth now takes on the role of the eldest, and together with three young locals, she begins to explore freedom and gives in to her desires. In her feature film debut, Carmen Jaquier captures the restlessness of a young woman struggling with her conflicting feelings about faith and affection and tells the story of female emancipation in the midst of oppressive societal norms.
