This Is National Wake
In 1979, apartheid was in full swing under South Africa's fascist regime. However, three young men, a white Jewish guitarist and two black Shangaan siblings from Soweto - dared to form National Wake. In a time and place where it was illegal for them to play together, the band and its fans rebelled through music, defying every law. "This is National Wake" chronicles the wild rise of a diverse South African punk band, hailed as "the band that defied apartheid," whose members risked everything for freedom and equality.
