The World We Inherit

Five engrossing shorts about matters personal, matters political and matters involving the interweaving of the two (messily, intimately, painfully, productively). Two of the filmmakers draw directly upon their own family (hi)stories and circumstances for documentary purposes; one for semi-fictionalized ends; another artistically transforms experience into a narrative structure. The most experienced director represented—Lukas Marxt—meanwhile characteristically takes a more distanced approach as he chronicles a specific locale with global implications for the entire human family.
