The Wicked Lady
A nefarious chatelaine, bored with her marriage, becomes the highwaywoman and playmate of a charming bandit. The turbulent costume and love adventure, initially misjudged as a ‘strange mixture of hot passion and cold jelly’ (Observer), became the most successful film of 1946 in Great Britain - and also catapulted Lockwood and Mason to the top of the Austrian cinema audience's favourites.
