Year1921

Duration71min.

It begins with the symbolised quest (and search) for a state that embodies the Jewish faith; all this through a seeker who is called upon to wait for a leader. This leader is to be fulfilled in the person of Theodor Herzl. Even as a child, he experiences the daily reprisals against Jews. As a successful lawyer, he later recognises his connection to Judaism, to which he dedicates his life. An encounter with a bookseller whose life is marked by oppression and flight changes his life forever ... "Images of enchanting splendour. Theodor Herzl appears as a saviour, and with him we see new territory emerging, the towering palaces of Zion, which Herzl believed should be the future of Judaism." (Neue Freie Presse)
