The Surfer

A father (Nicolas Cage) wants to show his teenage son the beach of his childhood. As always, the weather in Australia's Luna Bay is perfect, the sea inviting and the surfboards freshly polished. But let's be honest: the movie would hardly be shown at SLASHeinhalb if everything went smoothly here. And so the two are unexpectedly prevented from getting into the sea by a group of surf bros. What follows is more psychedelic drug trip than surf trip, an increasingly fast-paced madness, populated by gaslighting cops, scorpions, hobos, a surf sect and a few twists and turns that no one is sure to see coming. In the middle of it all is SLASH regular Nic Cage in search of catharsis. He will get it, but probably in a different way than expected! (Amadeus Mader)
