The Straight Story

A poetic portrait of a man and his journey through the heartland of America, undertaken to mend his relationship with his ailing 75-year-old brother, with whom he has been estranged for years. David Lynch retraces the actual route of 73-year-old Alvin Straight, who in 1994 traveled from Iowa to Wisconsin—on a tractor, no less.

Straight’s journey becomes an odyssey, his path marked by memorable encounters with strangers, from a teenage runaway to a World War II veteran. Alvin’s life lessons and anecdotes leave no one untouched.
