The Stories
Egypt, summer 1967. Whilst the country is on the brink of war, Ahmed receives a letter from Austria – Liz has replied. What begins as an innocent pen-pal friendship is viewed with suspicion by his relatives. Yet Liz becomes the driving force in Ahmed’s life: she believes in his dream of becoming a pianist, against all societal odds – and in a goal that seems unattainable: a public concert. Through decades of war and upheaval, through family dramas and moments of happiness, through failure and unexpected triumphs, Ahmed and Liz fight for their dreams. THE STORIES tells of the small victories of a family that never gives up, and of how perseverance and hope can make even the most impossible dreams come true.
