The Sound And The Silence

Half of the films in this six-strong program are about the relationships between women—two in fictional form, another a documentary with only one of the duo visible. In each instance, what we hear and what we don’t hear is equally crucial: eloquent and/or awkward silences, stretches of muted audio-track, the encroachment of noises off. Elsewhere, the harmless buzzing of an insect proves to be a trigger of anxiety, the cacophony of a capital city the backdrop for mythmaking, and the muffled hands of time gently caress a becalmed protagonist.
