The Salesman

Emad and Rana are forced to flee their apartment. Damage to the foundation threatens to cause the building to collapse. An acquaintance offers the young couple his vacant apartment, a rare stroke of luck in a densely populated city like Tehran. When Rana is surprised by a stranger in the bathroom, they learn that the previous tenant left behind not only personal belongings but also a dubious reputation. Rana refuses to call the police or even talk about the incident. So Emad sets out on his own to find the perpetrator. The couple becomes increasingly entangled in a web of shame and blame, which ultimately threatens to tear them apart.
