The Monkey House
With an introduction by Frank Stern and Klaus Davidowicz
Avi Nesher's new dramatic comedy is set in the 1980s and takes us not to the zoo, but on the search of two lost souls for meaning, success and recognised identity. The writer, whose fame has gradually faded, is played by Adir Miller. It is his fourth collaboration with Avi Nesher, full of serious comedy with a stand-up quality. But it is not only about fading fame, but also about the search for past love and the brilliant acting of a young starlet, played by Suzanna Papian. Nesher was able to recruit actors from the Israeli film and TV scene, for example from ERETZ NEHEDERET and FAUDA. In the film's emotions, illusions and lies, Avi Nesher holds up a screen mirror to the audience. (Frank Stern)
