(The Mars Volta) Omar and Cedric: If This Ever Gets Weird
Natural Born Outsiders: The two well-known faces of the cult band The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez López and Cedric Bixler Zavala, met in their youth in El Paso, Texas. They share a Latin American background, a passion for music — and, at times, the same bed. Composed of recent footage and over one hundred hours of private recordings from Omar, this film is a wild ride through 20 years of friendship and music history: from their time with the hardcore band At The Drive-In to projects like the dub combo De Facto and finally the progressive rock of The Mars Volta. The film oscillates between euphoria, madness, addiction, friendship, and love — always returning to the music. (Sara Gómez | Dokfest Munich)
