Part of the special series THE MAGIC OF TERRY GILLIAM.

Disillusioned advertising executive Toby (Adam Driver) is drawn into the time-jumping fantasy of an old Spanish schoolmarm (Jonathan Pryce) who thinks he is Don Quixote and Toby is his servant Sancho Panza. Together they have adventures that take comic and surreal turns, while Toby is confronted with the consequences of an event from his own past.

THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE is one of those infamous, almost bewitching films with a turbulent backstory: it would be almost 30 years before director Terry Gilliam finally brought his loose adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes' book "Don Quixote" to the screen. Several previous attempts failed - first because of a lack of financing, then because lead actors dropped out at short notice during filming, and sets and equipment were destroyed due to flooding or other misfortunes. A documentary about the first failed production, LOST IN LA MANCHA, appeared in 2002. Then, in 2017, Gilliam was finally able to complete filming with a completely replaced cast - 17 years after its start.
