The Last Race
In 1913, a fateful ski race took place in the Giant Mountains, during which Bohumil Hanc, the most successful Czech skier of the time, lost his life. Due to a snowstorm, all participants abandoned the race, except for Hanc, who remained on the course. He froze to death and became a legend.
In addition to these tragic events, which were already adapted into a film in 1956, the film highlights the tensions between the German and Czech populations before World War I and brings a previously unknown hero to the forefront: Emmerich Rath, a German participant who tried in vain to save his friend Hanc.
