Landmines from the war in Yugoslavia are still being searched for and defused. The experiences of the war are deeply rooted in the minds of the inhabitants of the border village of Velika Kladuša on the Bosnian-Croatian external EU border. Now they are confronted with the fates of today's war refugees who are trying to cross the border to the European Union through the surrounding forests.
The essay film THE LANDSCAPE AND THE FURY paints a picture of a border region characterized by generations of humanitarian crises that have left their mark on the landscape. Alongside grief and anger, memories of war, both recent and recent, it is the encounters between people that give comfort and hope for a better future.
