The Hitch-Hiker

On their way to a fishing trip, two friends pick up a hitchhiker who turns out to be a criminal wanted by the police for murdering his former ‘chauffeurs’. With a gun pointed at them, the two have no choice but to drive with the psychopath, even though they know that death awaits them at the end of their journey... Even the opening credits warn of the dangers of picking up strangers: in 1950, a series of murders on which the film is based shook the United States. THE HITCH-HIKER emphasises the moral side of the story: how far can you cooperate with a murderer to save your own life? Lupino's episode for Rod Serling's paranormal hit series THE TWILIGHT ZONE takes us to the grotesquely gruesome carnival party of a millionaire who is dying.
