The Favourite

England in the early 18th century. While the country is at war with England, the royal court is amusing itself with duck races and pineapple consumption. The declining Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) sits on the throne, but the actual regent is her close friend and lady-in-waiting Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz). As the political disputes take up more and more of Sarah's time, the new lady-in-waiting Abigail (Emma Stone) takes her place next to the queen and from then on acts as her confidante. The way is now clear for Abigail to realise her ambitious goals - and the power imbalance begins to shift.
